Language Academy

Program Description

The Language Academy offers a 14-week program during the fall and spring and two 7-week sessions during the summer. A total of 19 hours of instruction per week are provided. The Language Academy has seven levels of instruction from beginning to high advanced. The Language Academy approach is balanced and designed to develop accurate language knowledge while emphasizing the overall fluency acquired in real-life situations. Specific skills--such as speaking, academic writing, vocabulary building, grammar, pronunciation, TOEFL and GRE preparation, etc.--are taught in elective classes, while overall fluency is developed through exposure to contemporary literature and themes based on university-style courses.

USC owns and operates housing facilities (dormitories and apartments) on and near campus. Facilities are available to Language Academy students year-round All university apartment facilities are fully furnished.

Located near the heart of downtown Los Angeles, USC is close to numerous cultural and recreational sites. Hollywood, Santa Monica and Venice Beaches, Disneyland, and the mountains are all within an hour's drive from USC.

application information:

Provide a completed application form, a bank statement, a $50 application fee and a $100 enrollment deposit.
