Program Description

The Intensive Academic English as a Second Language Program provides academic preparation for students who want to study in U.S. colleges and universities. These classes emphasize the reading, writing, speaking, listening, and academic skills students need to succeed in U.S. colleges and universities. There are three levels in this program: Intermediate, Advanced and Transitional. The college issues form I-20 for eligible international students.

The College of Lake County is located in Grayslake, Illinois, which is about 45 miles north of Chicago and 40 miles south of Milwaukee. There are many major universities located within a 50-mile radius of the college. Northeastern Illinois, University, Northwestern University , University of Illinois at Chicago and University of Chicago are some of these universities.

In order to register for the Intensive Academic English as a Second Language Program students must complete a college application and take the Academic ESL Placement Test.
