English Language & Orientation Program

Program Description

The English Language and Orientation Program (ELOP) at Louisiana State University has provided instruction to international students and professionals who wish to increase their language proficiency for over 50 years. The ELOP offers five 8-week courses per year, with levels ranging form elementary to advanced. At each level more than 22 hours per week are spent on spoken English, reading, grammar, composition, and listening comprehension. The ELOP's state-of-the-art audio/visual laboratory is used for classwork and independent study and our computer teaching lab is used for composition class, TOEFL preparation, topic searches, and full internet and e-mal services. Electives include Business English, TOEFL Preparation, conversation classes, Computer Basics, and Golf.

Students may select housing options of university dormitories, off-campus apartments, or homestay with American families. We pre-arrange dormitory housing and will assist students with finding off-campus apartments. Free bus service is available from apartments near campus. Scholarships: The ELOP does not offer scholarships.
